2008 Milestones

This past year I completed 2 knitting projects that I think are noteworthy. My first pair of socks, and my first sweater. I think these are some milestones for a relatively new knitter, which I am!

The socks seen here are made with KOIGU KPPPM yarn, purchased from Purl Soho. They came out great! I'd made 2 previous attempts at making socks (one of which earned the title "the sock-boot", which needless to say did not turn out well). In my prior trials, I didn't know anything about gauge, so they resembled Christmas stockings, rather than actual socks. But these came out really well (better than I expected, actually). I used the Yankee Knitter Classic sock pattern and #2 DP needles.

Hooray! And my beloved first sweater! It's a top-down knit, which worked great since I could try it on for sizing as I went along. The pattern is called "Juliet" and I used double strands of Tahki Yarn Cotton Classic. I learned a lot doing the eyelet - like using markers and looking for repeating parts of the pattern to make sure everything is lining up properly. I was very happy with the final product.
